March 2022, 3D4D Exhibit
CSI hosted a solo exhibit Diane Feldpausch Tang in the 3D4D gallery called Humanity+Modernity+Nature=Confusion. For the exhibit, Tang used multiple mediums to explore a decline of empathy toward others, the built environment, and the natural environment. The exhibit considered our relationship with these three pillars of our lived experience: humanity, modernity, and nature.
Humanity highlighted the marginalization of unsheltered and low-income individuals oil painted portraiture. Modernity captures urban blight by combining photography and fused glass. Nature used matter painting and organic materials including oil paint and sand to depict the results of light pollution. Taken together, Humanity + Modernity + Nature = Confusion aims to reconnect us to empathy as a step toward social change.
